The Green Corner Store will celebrate its 3rd Anniversary, tomorrow between 12-4 p.m. Customers can enjoy samples of ice cream cake and iced coffee floats made by Loblolly Creamery. There will be special prices on selected merchandise throughout the store, live music and door prizes. The store is dedicated to help educate and promote greener lifestyles by offering quality, healthy, safe, and eco-friendly products for every day living.
Some of the door prizes include a bag of Mountain Black Café coffee beans, a French roast from Mountain Bird Coffee Company, a starter kit of green home cleaning products from Better Life, and personal care items from Tigre Mountain Soap. This past year has been a memorable one for the eco-friendly store. In addition to expanding its selection of organic, local, and sustainable products, the store opened a soda fountain in spring. It exclusively serves Loblolly Creamery’s artisan ice cream, hand-crafted beverages, and seasonal confections made with local and organic ingredients without the use of pre-mixes, preservatives, or artificial stabilizers.
The locally-owned store also received the Small Business Award from the Sustainable Business Network of Central Arkansas, acknowledging its commitment to sustainable business practices and its pledge to do more in the future. Owner, Shelley Green, was named an Eco Hero and featured in the Arkansas Business’s 2012 Green Guide. “I wanted to showcase the array of green products available for people to easily make more eco-conscious choices,” says Green.
During the anniversary festivities, the Green Corner Store will unveil a poster design commemorating the anniversary. It will be a declaration of the store’s mission, beliefs, and actions towards sustainability, building community, and supporting local. Those who wish can sign the original design to signal their shared agreement for and support of the store’s efforts. It will be displayed in the store as a way to increase awareness for the store’s mission. A limited number of copies will be available for a small donation. Proceeds will benefit the Dunbar Garden Project.
