Join the Arkansas River Valley Audubon Society for its monthly meeting, tonight at 7 p.m. at Lake Dardanelle State Park Visitor Center (100 State Park Drive) in Russellville.
Jennifer Penner who is on the faculty at Hendrix College in Conway will give a presentation titled “Wildlife Adventures in Costa Rica.” Penner and her husband, Matthew Moran, teach during most summers near the cloud forest of Costa Rica, a biodiversity hot spot known for its spectacular birding, abundant wildlife, and striking landscapes. Costa Ricans are dedicated to protecting and sharing their country’s natural beauty, resulting in a thriving economy that is centered around ecotourism. She will share their experiences with some of the more common but nonetheless impressive and beautiful birds and mammals that make up Costa Rican tropical ecosystems, focusing on the adaptations that make them especially suited for a life in the rain forest.
