9/27/12: U.S. Green Building Council Sustainable Living Discussion Group

Interested in building or renovating your home using green design and materials? Then, join this discussion group hosted by the U.S. Green Building Council – Arkansas Chapter, tomorrow between noon and 1 p.m. at Arkansas Studies Institute (401 President Clinton Avenue) in downtown Little Rock.

Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola will discuss the Mayor’s second annual Car-Free Challenge, which will take place October 1-7, 2012. Mayor Stodola will again go without a car for a week and is challenging you to do the same. Could you do this? What would be your biggest problem? Distance? Lack of bike lanes or sidewalks? Would you need to bike AND ride a bus to reach some of your destinations? Come and join in the discussion and prepare yourself for this challenge.

The mayor will be joined by Matthew Long, Transit Planner with the Central Arkansas Transit Authority (CATA), and Jeremy Lewno, owner, Bobby’s Bike Hike. Long will have a CATA bus stationed in the River Market area with two representatives who will demonstrate how to people how to load and unload your bike on and off of a CATA bus.

Lewno, a daily bike commuter, will talk about his experience as a cyclist in Little Rock and tell you about some great specials his bicycle rental business is offering during the Car-Free Challenge.

Event is free and open to the public. No reservation necessary. Bring your own lunch.
